MrBeast and former NASA engineer and YouTuber Mark Rober arranged a joint fundraising challenge event on YouTube called #TeamTrees on October 25, 2019, at 19:00 UTC. The project’s aim was to raise $20 million for the Arbor Day Foundation by January 1, 2020, and to plant trees by December 20, 2022. Every dollar donated is pledged to the Arbor Day Foundation, which will plant one tree for every dollar given.
They started planting the trees in October 2019 in the national parks of the United States.
