Hazel Daniels is the wife of the late American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Daniels who is best known for his number-one country hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.

Daniels and her husband, Charlie Daniels got married in 1963. In an interview with NewsOK, during their 50 wedding anniversary, Charlie shared the story of how he and his wife met and fell in love.
He said that he met her while playing at the Fondalite Club in Tulsa with his band called the Jaguars. “She came with a girlfriend of hers one night. And I said, ‘Hey I like that curvy little blonde over there. Hey, how are you doin’?”

They eventually fell in love and got married. He also revealed that she started touring with him after their son started college in 1983.

Hazel’s husband, Charlie died on July 6, 2020, at the age of 83 years.
Country Music Association CEO, Sarah Trahern paid tribute to Charlie saying; “There are few artists that touched so many different generations in our business than Charlie Daniels did.
“Today, our community has lost an innovator and advocate of Country Music. Both Charlie and Hazel had become dear friends of mine over the last several years, and I was privileged to be able to celebrate Charlie’s induction into the Opry as well as tell him that he was going to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
“I will always remember the look of sudden shock and delight on his face as he realized he would be in the Hall of Fame Rotunda for the ages. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends at this sad time.”

Charlie died of hemorrhagic stroke in Hermitage, Tenn.
