Barnes is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). He said that the challenges of forecasting in his region are nearly unmatched. Among his proudest achievements at Fox 5 are Covering Hurricane Irene in Ocean City, the winter of Snowmaggedeon, and the Derecho of 2012.
