Smith appeared in Nickelodeon’s superhero comedy series The Thundermans, where he played the character Angus in 2014.

Later in 2015, he portryaed the character Marcus “Radar” Lincoln in Paper Towns. He also played the character Ezekiel Figuero in Netflix’s musical drama series The Get Down.

In 2017, Smith appeared in New York, opposite Lucas Hedges, in the Off-Broadway stage production of Yen by playwright Anna Jordan. He also co-starred in Every Day as Justin.
