Serenko began piano and voice lessons at the age of 6 years. She later joined the marching band, show choir, and musical theater.
In April 2019, Joanna won St. Louis Teen Talent Competition at The Fabulous Fox Theatre, singing “Valerie”. She released a single called “Best of Me” in 2019.

During The Voice blind auditions, Serenko sang a rendition of “All My Loving” by The Beatles. She received a four-chair turn from the Judges. She ended up joining Team Nick Jonas.
Serenko was later stolen by coach John Legend and later saved by coach Blake Shelton. She made it to the top 9 of the competition as a wildcard instant save.
