D.L. Hughley Biography

a native of Los Angeles, California, D. L. Hughley is an American actor, political commentator, radio host, author, and stand-up comedian.

Hughley is best known as the original host of BET’s ComicView from 1992-1993, the eponymous character on the ABC/UPN sitcom The Hughleys and performed in The Original Kings of Comedy.

Hughley is married to LaDonna Hughley. He and LaDonna got married in 1986. They have three children together; two daughters, Ryan, and Tyler, and a son Kyle.

As earlier noted, Hughley and his wife have three children together. Their eldest daughter, Ryan is an American Food writer for different magazines as well as a cooking enthusiast. She was born in 1987.

Their son Kyle, is an American actor just like his father. He is also a fitness instructor at Krav Maga in Los Angeles. The couple’s younger child, Tyler, is a radio host. She works together with her father on his show, The D.L Hughley Show.

Hughley’s son, Kyle, was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome as a child. Asperger Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction. It is also characterized with nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

D.L. Hughley Radio Show

Hughley has worked as a radio presenter for many years. He hosted The D.L. Hughley Morning Show On July 20, 2009. It premiered on WRKS (now WEPN), more popularly known at the time as 98.7 Kiss FM.

There were plans to take his show into syndication but a dispute regarding his salary erupted between Kiss FM’s parent company and the potential syndication company. Later in August 2010, Kiss FM dropped the show from its schedule, and Hughley moved on to other endeavors.

On August 12, 2013, REACH Media, the syndicator founded by Tom Joyner,  announced it had finalized a deal with D.L. to host a new nationally syndicated afternoon drive show, The D.L. Hughley Show, distributed by Cumulus Media Networks.
