Stacey Leilua Biography
Stacey Leilua is an actress and producer based in New Zealand who is best known for portraying Ata Johnson on the sitcom TV series, Young Rock.
As a producer, Stacey is recognized for her work on New Zealand’s longest-running TV series, Shortland Street. Other films include the UK / NZ Feature film Love Birds and the acclaimed web series The Factory which she co-executive produced with Kila Kokonut Krew.
She performed as part of the ensemble cast of Tusiata Avia’s Wild Dogs Under My Skirt. The production won Production of the Year at the 2018 Wellington Theatre Awards.
It was later picked up for a season at the Soho Playhouse in New York, January 2020. There, it played to full houses every night and won first place in the Fringe Encore Series.
Stacey Leilua Ata Johnson Young Rock
Young Rock is an American sitcom television series based upon the life of a professional wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson. In the sitcom, which premiered on February 16, 2021, Leilua plays Dwayne Johnson’s mother, Atta.
While introducing Stacey as the actress who would play his mom in the sitcom, Dwayne Johnson wrote on Instagram;
“And playing my mom @atajohnson aka Mama Rock is the talented and lovely @staceyleilua.
“Many of you know my mom’s story – cancer survivor, gone thru hell and back, incredible life and still the sweetest human being on the planet. And still goes to smack me when I cuss.”

Leilua graduated from one of New Zealand’s leading Drama Schools: the Unitec School of Performing & Screen Arts. While there, she majored in acting.
