Sharon Lawson Biography

A native of Toronto, Canada, Sharon Lawson is a Canadian-American news anchor and journalist who works for FOX 5 as an anchor of Good Day Atlanta since September 2017.

She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Her parents are Jamaican. In 2017, Sharon traveled to Jamaica to cover that country’s presidential election.

Lawson joined FOX 5 as an anchor of Good Day Atlanta in September 2017. She came to Atlanta from Miami, where she worked for 14 years at WTVJ-TV.

Her joining of Fox 5 was announced by FOX 5’s Vice President and News Director, Mike McClain.

In making the announcement, McClain said, “We’re pleased to welcome Sharon to ‘Good Day Atlanta.’ Her warmth and enthusiasm will make her a great addition to our morning newscasts.”

Sharon expressed her excitement saying, “I’m truly excited for this next chapter in my life to work for a station trusted by the community and a team recognized for its excellence.”

At WTVJ-TV, she worked as a weekend morning anchor and reporter.

Prior to that, she worked as an anchor and reporter in Minneapolis, MN, Dayton, OH, and Salisbury, MD.

Her TV career started in Sarasota, Florida, where she worked as a photojournalist and editor.
