From Clichy, France, Mariane Pearl is a French freelance journalist who is best known as the widow of Daniel Pearl, an American journalist who was killed in 2002.

Pearl also worked as a reporter and columnist for Glamour magazine. Her husband Daniel, worked as the Southeast Asia Bureau Chief for The Wall Street Journal.

Pearl met her husband Daniel Pearl in 1999, while he was on assignment in Paris. The couple got married in August 1999. Later on, after Daniel was promoted to South Asia Bureau Chief for The Wall Street Journal, the couple moved to Mumbai, India, where they stayed for a while.

Daniel Pearl Death

Daniel was kidnapped in 2002 after meeting a source for dinner. His abduction was announced by Pakistani militants. He was murdered by beheading on 1 February 2002.

After Daniel’s murder by Pakistani militants, the United States and Pakistani agencies joined to try to capture his killers and bring them to justice. In July 2002, one of the people involved in his murder was sentenced to death by hanging.

The guy’s name is Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British national of Pakistani origin. His sentence was later commuted to life in jail. Other three men were convicted for their roles in Daniel’s murder.

Daniel and Marriane’s son, Adam Daniel Pearl, was born four months after his father was killed. He was born in Paris. His father was killed on 1 February 2002.

Later in 2007, her memoir was adapted for the 2007 film of the same name (A Mighty Heart ). Starring in the film were Angelina Jolie and Dan Futterman as Mariane and Daniel Pearl.
