Hugh Raymond better known as H.R is the son of the late famous American broadcaster, television host, news anchor, Hugh Downs, and his late wife Ruth Shaheen.

His father, Hugh was also a TV producer, author, game show host, and music composer.

Raymond once sailed on his father’s boat together with his father and crew on a five-month voyage across the Pacific.

In his book, “Letter to a Great Grandson: A Message of Love, Advice, and Hopes for the Future,” Raymond’s father wrote about the voyage writing;

“I took H.R. with me for the purpose of running to the east end of the lake to see what was over there. Our dock was near the west end.”

During his career, Hugh has served as the announcer for Tonight Starring Jack Paar from 1957 to 1962, and co-host of the NBC News program Today from 1962 to 1971.

He had also served as the host t of the Concentration game show from 1958 to 1969, and anchor of the ABC News magazine 20/20 from 1978 to 1999.
