Kemp’s wife is the late Astrid Kirchherr. The couple met in 1964 after Kircherr reunited with the fab tour t serve as a set photographer on the Beatle’s film, A Hard Day’s Night. They eventually got married in 1967.
Kirchherr was previously engaged to Sutcliffe, a member of the Beatles in November 1960. However, in 1961, he left the Beatles and went to Hamburg College of Art to pursue painting. He died in 1962 from a cerebral hemorrhage. Sutcliffe was 21 years old at the time of his death.

Kirchherr died on May 13, 2020, at the age of 81 years. News of her death was confirmed by German newspaper Die Zeit, saying she died after a short serious illness.

“Her gift to the Beatles was immeasurable. She died in Hamburg on Wednesday, a few days before turning 82,” Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn tweeted.
