I think when I was younger I was misguided and heading in not a good direction and had an encounter with God that set me on the path,” Boone said.
Speaking about his influences in music, Boone said, “My influences are really broad. When I was a kid, my mom would listen to Classic Rock, Oldies, Motown, R&B, Blues, Gospel.
“I’m used to being around everything. She even listened to a little Country and Blue Grass. I think what I have steered towards is Alternative and Indie Rock, but my voice is soulful, so it ends up being a little R&B and Rock.”
Franklin Boone America Idol Audition
During his American Idol audition, Boone sang “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. After his performance, the judges were clearly impressed.
“The first note you hit, told me a bit of a story about you, ” Luke Bryan told him. ” I mean, I just see a recording artist and so much artistry in you.”
“There is a word that makes an artist an artist and that’s called style,” Lionel Richie said. ” You brought your style vocally, and your look and your attitude, all in one package.” Richie went on to tell him he was giving him a yes and that he was looking forward to the next frontier for Boone.
Katy Perry told him to continue following his dreams and lead by example for his music students. ” If you wanna win this thing, I think you have a really good chance to,” she said.
All three of the judges gave him yeses and gave him a ticket to Hollywood.
