Stinger has been married to her husband Kevin Kaczmarek, a manager of sales for DEFENDERS, since 2010. Previously, she was dating Rayford Jackson who Stinger said he used to abuse her. Rayford was arrested and served a five years sentence for his involvement in the Synagro Technologies scandal.

She has received 15 Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, including the most recent Best Series Societal Concerns 2016; Best Evening Newscast 2015; and 12 others in various categories, including Best Anchor and Best Reporter, over the years. In 2000, she was voted Best Reporter by the Associated Press-Michigan.
