A native of Longview, Texas, DJ Johnson is an American singer who became popularly known as a contestant on season 19 of American Idol.

DJ Johnson Mother and Father
Johnson shared an emotional tragedy that happened in her family with her mother just walking out on them. She also revealed that she never had a relationship with her mother when growing up. This is what DJ, said about her mother’s situation.
“Up until last year, uh, our mom left…Just one day, she just walked out. Growing up, I did want a relationship with my mom.
“I just remember wanting her to be there, and she wasn’t. The way she would say things, ‘You’re not good enough, try to be somebody else.’ I would sing, and then she made it sound like I wasn’t good enough to go anywhere.
“It just always made me feel worthless. The hardest part was, I believed her.” DJ shared.
Her father on the other side has always been there for her and encouraged her to go after what she wanted.

Johnson is a contestant on season 19 of American Idol which premiered on February 14, 2021. During the auditions, Johnson sang an original song called “Scars” for her audition.
