Berk’s parents are Connie and Jerry Berk. They adopted him. When he was 15 years old, Berk left home and moved to Springfield, Missouri. This was due to the internal and external homophobia he faced growing up.
Berk recently remodeled the whole of his parents’ home. “We moved into this house 27 years ago, and (my parents) have really never done anything to it. It was remodeled by the people who lived in it before, which I think happened in 1977, so it’s been a while,” he said.
The renovation took two months. He partnered with Target for the makeover of the home.

In 2003, Berk moved to New York City with just $100 in his pocket, where he found employment at Restoration Hardware and Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
He, later on, moved to Portico, a high-end home furnishing company. Although he had no high school diploma or any formal training, Berk worked his way up until he was the creative director.
In 2006, Berk launched his online store, Bobby Berk Home, and one year later, opened its store in SoHo, Manhattan. He later opened other stores in Midtown Miami, Florida, and Midtown Atlanta, Georgia.
Berk also launched Bobby Berk Interiors + Design which specializes in interior design services Its headquarters is in Downtown Los Angeles.
Bobby Berk Queer Eye
Berk stars on the Netflix series Queer Eye as the interior design expert. Queer Eye released its first season in February 2018.
