Blake Bailey Biography

A native of Oklahoma City, Blake Bailey is an American writer best known for literary biographies of Richard Yates, John Cheever, Charles Jackson, and Philip Roth.

Bailey is also the editor of the Library of America omnibus editions of Cheever’s stories and novels.

He was the Mina Hohenberg Darden Professor of Creative Writing at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia from 2010 to 2016.

Two of the women Valentina Rice, 47, and Eve Peyton, 40, detailed their experience of being raped by the writer. Valentina claimed the alleged incident happened at a friend’s house in New Jersey in 2015.

Payton on the other hand claimed Blake allegedly raped her in a hotel room in New Orleans in 2003. Other women who were his students in the past have come forward to speak about their experiences of sexual misconduct by Bailey.
