Alissa Turney Biography
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Alissa Turney was an American teen who went missing on the last day of her junior year in high school in 2001.
Turney disappeared after her stepfather Michael Roy Turney picked her up from school. She was 17 years old at the time of her disappearance.

Turney’s stepfather is Michael Roy Turney. He was the last person to be seen with her after he picked her from school. He was the only person of interest after the disappearance of his step-daughter.
A search warrant was issued for his home to search for evidence in connection to Alissa’s disappearance. During the search, the Phoenix Police Department found 26 pipe bombs. They also found a manifesto to use these bombs in an act of domestic terrorism.
Michael Roy Turney was sentenced to ten years in prison. However, no charges were pressed against him in relation to Alissa’s disappearance.

The late Alissa had a sister named Sarah Turney who is Michael’s biological daughter. She is known to have led a social movement that pushes to get justice for Alissa.
Father’s Arrest
On August 20, 2020, almost 20 years since Alissa’s disappearance, her stepfather, Michael was arrested and charged with murdering Alissa.
Maricopa County Attorney announced the indictment against Michael. Alissa’s sister and Michael’s daughter responded via Twitter writing;
“I’m shaking and I’m crying. We did it you guys. He’s been arrested. Omg 😭 thank you. #justiceforalissa Never give up hope that you can get justice. It took almost 20 years but we did it.”
