A native of Brooklyn Al Micheals born (Alan Richard Micheals) is an American television sportscaster. He well known for famous calls in other sports, including the Miracle on Ice at the 1980 Winter Olympics and the earthquake-interrupted Game 3 of the 1989 World Series.

In 2006 Michaels’ move from ABC to NBC and was notable as it was part of an agreement between the two networks’ parent companies, The Walt Disney Company and NBCUniversal, respectively, that allowed Disney to take ownership of the intellectual property of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from NBCUniversal.

Michaels teamed up with Bob Costas on July 8, 2011, to call a game between the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants on MLB Network. Since August 6, 2003, Michaels has debuted on a baseball telecast. Michaels and Costas also debuted on SportsNet New York and Comcast SportsNet Bay Area during the game’s middle innings, since the MLB Network broadcast was blacked out in the Mets’ and Giants’ respective home markets.
